Luther Washington, II is a gifted musician who is widely respected as an outstanding conductor, organist and music instructor. Mr. Washington received his Bachelor of Science degree in music education with emphasis in piano performance and high school choral music from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama. He has completed graduate studies in Choral Conducting at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.

           For over 25 years, Mr. Washington has served as conductor and accompanist to church choral groups. He has been accompanist for choral conductor greats such as the late Alma M. Blackmon, Uzee Brown, Roland Carter, John Haberlen, Glynn Halsey, and the late William Dawson, as well as other note-worthy conductors and composers.  Mr. Washington has served as an adjudicator, clinician, and guest conductor in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.

            Mr. Washington’s travels as a musical ambassador has extended to places such as England, Scotland and Wales, The Ivory Coast, Abidjan West Africa, Bermuda, the West Indies, Bahamas, and most major cities in the United States.

            Mr. Washington is a recipient of the Outstanding Young Professional Men of America and the Outstanding Men of America awards. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Music Educators National Conference (MENC), and the National Guild of Piano Teachers (American College of Musicians).

            In 1988, Mr. Washington founded the choral ensemble OPUS I, whose forte was the Afro-American spiritual song. This chorale was presented in concert as background vocalists for Sandy Patti in Atlanta’s Omni in 1991.

            Currently, Mr. Washington serves as principal organist and choir director at Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church, principal organist and accompanist at Cascade United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as Music Instructor at Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy in Atlanta, Georgia.
